The Sustainable Building Information System (SBIS)

This information database, called the Sustainable Building Information System (SBIS), has been launched by the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE), with the support of several organizations. The goal of the system is to allow users all over the world to gain access to a rich body of information related to sustainable building in several languages. Several linked files will provide relational access.

The individual files include:
o Advanced Technologies
o Methods and Tools
o R&D Projects
o Policies and Programs
o Buildings
o People
o Events
o Documents
o Relevant websites

All of the files contain individual records related to the file subject for browsing by SBIS users and they can download PDF-format documents that have been contributed by individuals or organizations.
The system interface on the CD version is currently developed in English, French, Italian and Polish, and in the future other languages will be added.

The work to date has been made possible by contributions by several agencies. Specific organizations include:
-- U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory
-- Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Japan
-- International Environmental Technology Centre of UNEP
-- CETC, Natural Resources Canada
-- OEE, Natural Resources Canada
-- National Defense Canada
-- Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria (Australia)
-- Canadian GBC team.
